Gladbrook-Reinbeck 55, GMG 7

GARWIN – Gladbrook-Reinbeck secured its fourth trip to the playoffs in the last five years with a convincing 55-7 victory over GMG in Friday’s Class A District 4 football finale.

Chase Clark scampered for 199 yards and four touchdowns, Dustin Dinsdale had two TD receptions and a scoring run, and the Rebels (5-4, 4-2) outgained the host Wolverines 392-135.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck got out to a 27-0 lead after the first quater with scoring runs of 1 and 28 yards by Clark, and touchdown passes from Trevor Trunck to Dinsdale spanning 21 and 9 yards.

Clark, who carried 16 times at an average of 12.4 yards per carry, reached the end zone twice more in the first half on runs of 12 and 52 yards as the Rebels led 41-0.

Dinsdale tacked on a 12-yard scoring run and Austin Harris tallied a 1-yard TD plunge to close out the Rebel scoring in the third.

GMG’s lone senior Blake Warren pushed the ball across the goal line for a 5-yard scoring run inside the final 2 minutes of the game. Warren finished with 105 rushing yards on 20 carries to lead the Wolverines (1-8, 0-6), who lost their seventh straight.

GMG quarterback Bridger Claassen completed 1-of-6 passes, a 23-yarder to Brock Fisher.

Clark’s rushing total was his third highest game of the season for G-R, which will host North Butler (6-3) in a first-round playoff game Wednesday in Gladbrook. It’s the Rebels’ third straight playoff berth. Brandon Lakabung added 63 rushing yards, while Dinsdale led the receivers with three catches and 46 yards. Trunck ended up 5-for-8 for 72 yards with two TDs and no interceptions.

Defensively, Jake Peters had a team-high eight tackles for the Rebels, Pete Meyers had six stops and Zach Pierce had five tackles and two quarterback sacks.
