Mae Sienknecht, 92

Mae Sienknecht, 92, of Gladbrook, died July 15, 2011 at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook. Memorial service and burial will be at a later date. Phone number is 319- 232-3235. Condolences may be left at the website www.overtonservice.com Mae Arlene Sienknecht was born on March 27, 1919 in Gladbrook, the daughter of John and Emma Oaks. She grew up in Gladbrook and attended Country School #9 until the 8th grade. She graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1937. On December 30, 1939, Mae was united in marriage to Wayne Sienknecht. They farmed north of Gladbrook for many years. Wayne died in 2004 and Mae continued to live on the farm until 2008 when she moved to Westbrook Acres. Mae was very active in the Gladbrook Church of God and the Grandma’s Club. She was one of the first members of the Gladbrook Ambulance and was an avid golfer at the Conrad Country Club. Mae died at the age of 92 on July 15, 2011 at the Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, George, Floyd and John a sister, Lora; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara. She is survived by two sons, Dennis (Jean) Sienknecht of Gladbrook and Dale (Deb) Sienknecht of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Sherri (Rick) Reinking of Spirit Lake, Terri Wheeler of Gladbrook, Kim Sienknecht of Marshalltown, Mark Sienknecht of Des Moines and Miranda (Ryan) Miest of Minneapolis; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew (Jessica) Reinking of Spirit Lake, Jerod Reinking of Spirit Lake, Hope (Jeff) Kelly of Marshalltown, Cassie Wheeler of Gladbrook, Brandon Wheeler of Gladbrook, Julien Miest and Davis Miest both of Minneapolis; two great-great-grandchildren, Shawn Hagele of Marshalltown and Braydon Dreesman of Gladbrook; a sister-in-law, Opal Sienknecht of Cedar Falls; and many nieces and nephews. Mae will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
