Obituary

Jack D. Royer, 75 of Reinbeck died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines of natural causes.

Jack was born on July, 26, 1935 in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Arlo and Melba Powers Royer. He married Caroline J. Boelman on August 25, 1955 in Ackley, Iowa.

Jack was in the U.S. Air-force from 1953 to 1954. He was a member of the Masonic Temple Coin Lodge 394 and a member of American Legion Action Post 242. He was employed as a meat manager at several stores. He was an avid artist of charcoal and oil painting and wood carving.

Jack enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family.

Jack is survived by his wife Caroline, two daughters Deborah (Mike) Lage of Reinbeck and Cynthia (Curt) Plaehn of Gladbrook. Two sons Jeffery Royer of Reinbeck, Gregory (Nancy) Royer of Tipton, seven grandchildren, Clarinda (Dean) Morrow of Malin, Ore., Cody Plaehn of Des Moines, Eric Lage of Reinbeck, Jennifer and Nicole Royer of Tipton, Jesse Royer of Reinbeck and Julia Royer of New Hartford, three great grandchildren, Lucinda Haywood, Brandon and William Royer. Two sisters Luella Gorman of Waterloo and Ramona Soccoras of Madrid.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Marlys Bushby.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Masonic Temple in Reinbeck.

Cremation at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial will be set at a later date. Memorial may be directed to the family.

Obituary

Doris A. Reid, 70 from Voorhies died on Tuesday morning, June 21, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics at the from complications of cancer. Visitation was held at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories on Friday, June 24, 2011 from 4-7 PM and 1 hour prior to services at the church on saturday. The service was held at St Mary’s of Mt. Carmel in Eagle Center, Iowa on Saturday June 25, 2011 at 10:30 AM.

Doris Ann Reid was born May 7, 1941 in Waterloo the daughter of Wesley and Florence McKenna Yuska. She received her education in Hudson where she graduated from Hudson High School in the class of 1959. She continued her education at Iowa State University in Ames, for one year. In 1968 she was married to Duane Reid and they later divorced. In her early years Doris was employed as a teller in a bank in Cedar Falls and later as a secretary for Clay Equipment. In 1979 she began working for the Hudson School system in their food service area and was head cook retiring in May of 2006 after 28 years. In 1994 she met a special friend Bill Siebel and they have remained together for the past 16 years. Doris’s free time was spent enjoying the area casino, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two children; Stefanie (Craig) Lorenzen of Dysart and Darren (Lindsay) Reid of West Des Moines, four grandchildren, Logan and Lydia Lorenzen and Owen and Abigail Reid,four brothers, Robert (Kathy) Yuska of Hudson, Ken (Jill) Yuska of Hudson, Gordy (Dee) of Waterloo and Tom and his fianc Lori Baylesof Hudson, her special friend Bill Siebel of Hudson, two special nephews, Jeremiah and Dan Yuska and several other nieces and nephews.

Florence Blohm, 94, Traer died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer from natural causes. Visitation was held from 4:30 to 7 PM Thursday June 30, 2011 at Overton Funeral Home in Traer. Service was held at St Luke Lutheran Church in Traer on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 1:30 PM. Burial was held at West Union Cemetery rural Traer.

Florence Blohm was born April 29, 1917 in rural Traer, Iowa Tama County, daughter of Freemont and Elva Snow Anderson. She received her education in the Traer and Dinsdale schools and then worked for area families in their homes.

On May 21, 1938 she was united in marriage to Harry Blohm in Reinbeck. Harry and Florence made their home farming near Reinbeck for 17 years. They then moved west of Traer and farmed until 1973 when they moved to a farm east of town. After Harry’s death on November 19, 1979 she remained on the farm until moving to Traer in September of 2006 she became a resident of the Sunrise Hill Care Center.

She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Traer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry, brothers Milbert Anderson and twins Earl and Merle in infancy and two sisters, Lavonne Willer and Martha Drinovsky.

She is survived by two sons; Terry (Arlene) Blohm and Michael Blohm both of Traer, four daughters, Patti (Dick) Zeschke of Cedar Falls, Susan(John) Behrns of Delhi, Kathy (Neal) Wood and Pam (Dave) McKinley both of Traer, 20 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
