Marvin E. Klinefelter, 76

Marvin E. Klinefelter, 76, of rural Marshalltown, died Thursday, February 17, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 22, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Gladbrook. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. ˆ 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 21, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown where his family will be present to greet friends and family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Marvin‚s name to the Christ Lutheran Church. Marvin was born March 19, 1934, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Ray and Esther (Johnson) Klinefelter. He was raised and educated in the Vienna Township on the family farm north of Green Mountain. Marvin was a 1952 graduate of the Green Mountain High School. Following graduation he worked for a short time at the Central Iowa Bean Mill in Gladbrook before beginning his lifelong career in farming. He was married to Carole Sherman and later in life was married to Denise Saint in August of 1982. Marvin‚s true passion was farming. He also enjoyed fishing and restoring a special tractor. Above all Marvin was devoted to his family and always attended his children‚s and grandchildren‚s school activities. Marvin was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Gladbrook where he served in several church offices and also taught Sunday school. He was a member of the Gladbrook Jaycees, the Green Mountain Lions Club, and the Mid-Iowa Antique Power Association. Marvin also served on the Board of Directors at the Green Mountain Bank and was a past 4-H Leader. Marvin is survived by his wife Denise Klinefelter, his children: Dee Klinefelter and her partner Brenda Jenison of Austin, Texas, Craig (Connie) Klinefelter of Marshalltown, Lisa Klinefelter of Marshalltown, Chris Klinefelter of Garwin and Jeremy Klinefelter and his special friend Kobi Lazenby of Davenport, his sister Juanita (John) Johnson of Bullhead City, Arizona, his two brothers: Gerald Klinefelter of Clinton and Robert Klinefelter of Marshalltown, his grandchildren: Dustin (Courtney) Degner of Marshalltown, Kelly Degner of Des Moines, Jamie Degner of Albion, his step-grandchildren: Camela (Dieter) Vogel of Jefferson, Georgia, Trevor (Christina) Schellhorn of Reinbeck, and Christopher (Janey) Potter of Reinbeck, his step-great-grandchildren: Shannon, Brennon, Jennaveve, Silas, Rowan, Sorel and Atley, his mother and father-in-law Charles (Kathryn) Saint of Waterloo, his sisters and brothers-in-law: Vicki (Tim) Stuber of Waterloo and Chris (Gary) Uhland of Waterloo, his niece Lindsey (Corey) Frost of Ankeny and his nephew Jason Stuber of Waterloo. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Esther.
