Melvin “Mike” Cathcart

Melvin “Mike” Cathcart, 86, of Gladbrook, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Grundy Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Iowa under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. There were no funeral services. Inurnment will be at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery in rural Gladbrook. Online condolences may be sent to www.vogelfuneralhomes.com. Mike was born March 26, 1924 to Willis and Grace (Stover) Cathcart. He attended school in Albion, Iowa. He served in the United States navy for two years during WWII and was a member of the Gladbrook American Legion. Mike is survived by his wife, Lonna, four step children, Jeff (Pat) Hasselmann of Des Moines, Iowa; Tisha (Michael) McDowell of Marshalltown; Doug (Andrea) Rowe of Gladbrook; Sherry Gilmore of St. Center, Iowa; seven step grandchildren; a sister Ruth (Cathcart) Randall of Marshalltown; along with seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, and a nephew.
