Loretta L. Busch

Loretta L. Busch, 87, of Toledo, formerly of rural Gladbrook and Traer, died Sunday, August 29, 2010, at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 1, at the Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook, Iowa. Burial followed at Crystal Cemetery in rural Toledo, Iowa. Loretta Lorraine Busch was born November 16, 1922 on a farm in rural Tama County the daughter of Alfred and Amanda Ohrt Hoeppner. She received her education in country schools and later attended Dinsdale and Garwin High Schools. On November 22, 1939 she was united in marriage to Loren Busch in Kirksville, MO. Loren and Loretta made their home farming all their married life, first in the Gladbrook area and the remaining years on a farm near Traer. In 1987 they retired to Tama, IA and in 1994 moved to a home they had built in Toledo. After Loren’s death she continued to make Toledo her home and in March of this year moved to the Keystone Care Center in Keystone. Recently Loretta has been a patient at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids where her death came early Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the age of 87 years. She was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ and the Senior Ladies Guild both in Gladbrook, Toledo Garden Club, Polka Club of Iowa and the Crystal Friendship Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Loren on May 9, 1997, one son Jerry on February 3, 1986, two brothers Elmer and Arthur Hoeppner and a sister Thelma Dillon. She is survived by one son Dan (Donna) Busch of Keystone, IA, three daughters, Shirley (Ted) Pemberton of Tempe, AZ, Colleen ( Jim) Byrd of Wills Point, TX and Judy (Stan) Hall of Frisco, TX, a sister Marlys Finzen of Dysart, IA, a daughter in law Maxine (Roger) Bottema of Dysart, IA , a sister in law Mercedes Hoeppner of Traer, IA, 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
