David L. Tines, 54, of Marshalltown, IA, formerly of Geneseo, passed away Friday, August 06, 2010 at Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, IA. Funeral services celebrating his life were Monday, August 9, 2010 at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd, Geneseo. Rev. Dr. Christopher Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo; where Military Honors will be accorded by the Don Cherry Geneseo VFW Post #5083. Visitation for David will be 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the David L. Tines Memorial Fund. David was born on September 11, 1955 in Geneseo the son of Carl G. and Betty (Parsons) Tines. He was a graduate of J.D. Darnell High School, Geneseo. David proudly served his country in the US Army. He was united in marriage to Shirley Smith on June 20, 1990 in Gladbrook, IA. David had been employed as a supervisor at Traer Manufacturing, Traer, IA for 23 years. He attended First United Methodist Church, Geneseo and was a member of Traer American Legion. David enjoyed camping, fishing (especially for Trout), reading about woodworking and photography. He also enjoyed computers, golfing and was an avid TV fan. Survivors include his wife Shirley, Gladbrook, IA; two sons Michael Tines & special friend Cheri, Gladbrook, IA; Josh Johnson, Lincoln, IA; a special grandson Michael, two brothers and sister-in-law Richard & Brenda Tines, Colona, IL; Paul Tines, New Orleans, LA.
