Obituary

Wallace W. Hoffmann of Reinbeck, formerly of Cedarburg, Wis. died April 28, 2010 at Parkview Manor Nursing Home.

He was born Sept. 28, 1916 in Wis., son of Emma (Klotz) and F. August Hoffmann. He graduated from Cedarburg High School. He married Eleanor Wiegert Aug. 17, 1946. She preceded him in death in April 2009. Wallace served in the 511th Parachute Infantry from 1941-1945, serving in the Pacific Theater. Wallace served the city of Cedarburg for 28 years as a patrolman and later police chief. He later worked as a Security Supervisor at St. Michael’s Hospital.

Wallace was a lifetime member of the Wisconsin Police Chief’s Association and a member of American Legion Post 242 in Reinbeck.

He is survived by 3 children, Jim (Nancy) Hoffmann of Glendale, Ariz., Anne Campbell of River Falls, Wis. and Sharon (Dale) Wambold of Reinbeck; 4 grandchildren, Eric (Jenn) Hoffmann, Kara (David) Vowell, Dave (Angela) Wambold, Sarah (Jason Kerns) Wambold; and 2 great-grandchildren, Logan Vowell and Gwenna Rae Wambold.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his brother LeRoy and his sister Roma Allen.

Visitation will be Friday, May 14, 5-7 p.m. with services to follow at Faith Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, Wis. Internment with full military honors will be Sat. May 15 at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Zion Lutheran Church.

Obituary

Command Sergeants Major John Keith Laborde, passed away April 22, 2010 while serving his country in Afghanistan. Funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Reinbeck, Iowa. Burial followed immediately after the funeral mass at Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa. Visitation was held Friday, April 30, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. A vigil service was held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Keith was born in Marksville, Louisiana on March 2, 1957 to his parents Preston and Edith Laborde. He was raised and educated there and joined the United States Marines at the age of 18. He traveled the world and served in the Marines for 10 years. He earned the rank of SSG on June 25, 1985. On June 26, 1985 Keith joined the United States Army Reserve. Keith was united in marriage to his wife Lori on November 25, 1985 and they welcomed five children into their family. Keith was the supervisor of the AMSA 28 in Cedar Falls, Iowa until he was deployed to Afghanistan.

Keith loved to hunt, fish and golf. His daughter Tiffany remembers that the one rule of fishing with Keith was that you had to be able to bait your own hook. Keith was a member of the Lions Club and the American Legion Post 242, Reinbeck, Iowa. He was also a high school CCD teacher. All of his children and his wife remember him as a loving and devoted father.

Keith is survived by his wife Lori Laborde of Reinbeck Iowa; his children Tiffany E. Laborde, Theresa E. (Philip) Hol, USMC SGT Terrance E. Laborde, Navy PO3 Shawn J. (Carran) Laborde, Adam J. Laborde; his grandsons David and Evan Fleming; his sisters Claudia (the late Roger) Snyder, Rebecca Young, Elizabeth (Bryan) VanderKooi and Jennifer Laborde. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Margaret A. Lockhart, 85, of Reinbeck, passed away on Thursday, April 29th, 2010 at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, Iowa while under the care of the Iowa Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, May 3rd, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Gabriel Church in Reinbeck with Father Dennis Quint officiating. Visitation was held on Sunday, May 2nd from 3 to 5:30 PM at French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck with a 3 PM reading of the rosary and a 5:30 vigil. Interment was held at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Margaret was born on September 26, 1924 in Black Hawk County, the daughter of George and Lena (Lellig) Cavanaugh. She grew up in Dike, graduating from Dike High School. She attended Gates College in Waterloo. In 1945, she met Ray Lockhart. The two began dating and were later united in marriage on October 19, 1946 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center. Margaret and Ray moved to a farm south of Reinbeck after they were married, and later moved to town in Reinbeck. Born to the couple were three children. Margaret worked as a librarian at the Reinbeck Elementary School for several years and later worked as a secretary for Beard & Sweet Law offices in Reinbeck, where she later retired from.

She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and the Legion Auxiliary. Margaret loved to garden and she especially loved taking care of her family.

Margaret is survived by her husband Ray of Reinbeck; children Barb (Jack) Kirkpatrick of Waterloo and Rick (Dee) Lockhart of Reinbeck; grandchildren Eric (Kari) Canakes and Jennifer, Melissa and Ryan Lockhart; great-grandson Tylor Canakes; sisters Marlys Miller of Cedar Falls, Marvene Niedermann of Reinbeck and Betty Hansen of Sunnyvale, Calif.; brother Kenneth Cavanaugh of Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her daughter Vicki Freeman; brother Donald Cavanaugh.
