Obituary

Daniel J. Billerbeck, 52, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Friday, April 9, 2010, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital. Memorial service was 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at French Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, Iowa, with Pastor Joel Love officiating. Burial will be held privately at Reinbeck Cemetery at a later date. Memorial visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2010 at French Hand Funeral Home. A memorial has been established.

Daniel was born on July 15, 1957, in Grundy Center, Iowa to his parents Gaylord and JoAnn Billerbeck. He graduated from Reinbeck High School and then attended Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for two years. After school he went on to begin his career as a truck driver. He drove his own truck for several years and the went on to drive for PCI in Reinbeck for the rest of his career.

Daniel loved his horse he had as a boy and his family remembers him a person who loved to spend his free time with his friends and family.

Daniel is survived by his father Gaylord; brother, Michael; sisters Jacque and Pam (Brad) Konicek; step brother Jack Roehr; step sisters Sherrie (Tom) Morre and Shelie Atkins (Sam Sablon); and six nieces and his uncle Paul (Wanda) DauSchmidt. He is preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn and his grand parents.

Joan Weiss Mehman, 78, 301 S. 12th St., Clear Lake, died April 6, at Mercy Medical Center, Mason City. According to her wishes, her body has been cremated. There will be a private family burial in the Reinbeck Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association or cards may be sent to 301 S. 12th St., Clear Lake, Iowa, 50428.

Joan was born Sept. 5, 1931, on the family farm in Grundy County. She graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1949. She worked for the Iowa Department of Public Safety in Des Moines for 13 years, then worked for Interstate Power until she retired.

Joan is survived by her two children, Rhonda McKibben, (David) of Marion and Robert Rindels (Nancy) of Coppell, Texas; one stepdaughter, Lisa Henry (Glenn) of Flint, Texas; four grandchildren, Steven Foster (Lisa) of Mason City, Victor Schrage (Brooke) of Waterloo, B.J. Foster (Jessica) of Allison and Maggie Schrage of Cedar Rapids; four great grandchildren, Olivia Schrage, Nathan Foster, Macey Schrage and Grace Foster; a brother, Ron Weiss (Sandy) of Waterloo; two sisters, Judith Brenner of Winter Park, Fla., and Sandra Weiss of Holcombe, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dale and infant brother Delmar; and infant twin daughters.
