GLADBROOK – On Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, the Gladbrook Memorial Building was filled with pride and applause as Tama County hosted its annual 4-H Awards Program. The event honored the dedication and accomplishments of local youth who participated in 4-H throughout the 2024-2025 4-H year. From seasoned members to curious newcomers, the afternoon showcased the spirit of learning, leadership, and community service that defines 4-H.
The evening began with the induction of the new council members: Ty Guthrie, Belle Werner, Brayton Cibula, Ethan Klemesrud, Easton Sash, Taelyn Sash, Violet Jackson, Caleb Ferch, Cayden Slifer, Jayden Beichley, Logan McKee and Rhianna Murty. Each member pledged to uphold the responsibilities of their roles with integrity and dedication. The oath was administered by Jenny Hulme, Tama County Youth Coordinator, who emphasized the significance of their commitment to the 4-H community.
The awards ceremony featured multiple categories, including Project Awards, Senior Awards, Membership Awards, Completion Awards, and Clover Kid participation. Each category celebrated members’ achievements in various fields, from agriculture and veterinary science to arts and technology.
Youth in grades K-3 were celebrated for their involvement in the Clover Kids program, which introduces children to 4-H through hands-on activities in science, arts, and citizenship. Clover Kids learn foundational skills like teamwork, communication, and creativity – laying the groundwork for future success in 4-H and beyond.
Record books help members set goals, track progress, and reflect on their experiences. They build valuable life skills like organization and responsibility, and they’re often key to earning awards and scholarships. Most importantly, they capture personal growth and achievements throughout the year.

4-H volunteers play a vital role in fostering an environment where youth can learn, grow, and thrive. From leading clubs and organizing events to mentoring young members, these individuals dedicate their time and energy to inspire the next generation. Their contributions are not just about sharing knowledge; they create a supportive community that empowers youth to develop leadership skills, confidence, and a sense of responsibility.
As Tama County 4-H continues to inspire and empower youth, the awards program serves as a reminder of the impact of community support, mentorship, and hands-on learning. Whether through a cookie jar project in Clover Kids or a detailed record book from a senior member, every 4-H experience helps shape tomorrow’s leaders.
