Who will be the 2021 Corn Cob Queen?

Nominations for the 2021 Corn Cob Queen are now open. Anderson Funeral Homes of Gladbrook is sponsoring the annual queen contest held during Gladbrook’s Corn Carnival. This is the 12th year for the Corn Cob Queen Contest. Past winners have been Sara Shouse/Marlene Wiebensohn (2009), Dave Wurr (2010), Rose Russell (2011), Jodi Betts (2012), Sheresa Lynch (2013), Deb Osborn (2014), Tandi Davis (2015), Jackie Stephenson (2016), Cynthia Eggers (2017), Beth Wegner (2018) and our reigning 2019 Corn Cob Queen Joan Surber who carried over to 2020 due to the carnival not being held.

Nominations are being taken by Rose Russell at 319-240-5293 or by Jeanne Paustian at 641-751-2039. Just give one of them a call and they will gladly take your nomination. Candidates must be active in the Gladbrook community, female and 18 years or older. Nominations will be taken through May 22.

We are asking for four to five nominations, so call in early.

Once nominations are finalized, you can vote for your favorite candidate by placing your change or folding money in the candidate buckets that will be placed at the Gladbrook Theatre and at Hometown Foods from June 1 through June 16.

The candidate with the most money collected will be crowned Corn Cob Queen for Gladbrook’s 99th Corn Carnival at the Kiddies Parade held on Thursday, June 17, 2021.

The winner will receive some really great prizes and have the honor of riding in the Grand Parade that will be held Friday, June 18th. All money collected goes to help defray Corn Carnival expenses.
