PRIMARY ELECTION VOTE AT HOME

Rhonda R. Deters, Grundy County Auditor, advises all eligible voters that the Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020. This election will not be postponed or cancelled due to the current situation with COVID-19. However, there may be some changes in the way the election is conducted.

The purpose of the June Primary Election in Iowa is for the voters of each party to nominate candidates to represent their party for the various offices on the ballot at the November General Election. Presidential candidates are NOT on the June Primary Election ballot in Iowa as that nominating process was accomplished by the political parties during their caucuses in February.

The races and candidates on each ballot for the June 2 Primary Election are as follows:

On the Republican ballot For United States Senator: Joni Ernst; for United States Representative, District 4: Randy Feenstra, Steve King, Steven Reeder, Bret A. Richards, and Jeremy Taylor; for State Representative, District 50: Pat Grassley; for Board of Supervisors, District 1: Lucas Halverson and James Ross; for Board of Supervisors, District 3: No candidate; for Board of Supervisors, District 5: Barbara L. Smith; for County Auditor: Rhonda R. Deters; and for County Sheriff: Kirk A. Dolleslager

On the Democratic ballot For United States Senator: Michael Franken, Kimberly Graham, Theresa Greenfield, Eddie J. Mauro, and Cal Woods; for United States Representative, District 4: J. D. All voters are encouraged to vote absentee in their homes for this election. The Secretary of State has mailed an absentee ballot request form to each active registered voter in the State of Iowa for this election. Voters should receive their request forms in the mail by May 1. If you did not receive your request form in the mail, the forms are also available on the Grundy County website, www.grundycountyiowa.gov, under the heading “Where do I?” Click on “Vote Absentee”. This will download an absentee ballot request form. Complete the form, including your name and signature, your date of birth, the address where you reside, your voter verification number (for most voters, this is your driver’s license number), the name or date of the election for which the absentee ballot is requested,
