Election Day is Tuesday, November 7. Running for council members four year terms are: Ash Larsen, Jordon Muller and Nathan Ragsdale.

Library Board four year terms are: Jan Ehrig and Marilyn Evans.

Library Board Rural Representative four year term is Rebecca Schildroth.

Ash Larsen

Hello, I’m Ash Larsen and I’ll be running for City Council in November. I was born and raised in Reinbeck and graduated from Gladbrook-Reinbeck many years ago. I graduated from Wartburg College, where I played baseball and met my wife, Angie, who played volleyball & ran track. After college, we moved to Des Moines, got married and started our family. We always knew that we wanted to come back to Reinbeck and raise our family. Both coming from small towns, (Angie from Algona) and I knew the importance of coming back and teaching our kids the life lessons and values that we had experienced growing up. We currently have three kids: Kailey 9, Kooper 7, and Kylie “Ky” 3 that keep us very busy with their many sporting, school, and church events. I’m currently an outside salesman at Ferguson, Enterprises in Waterloo, where I work with many mechanical contractors in the Cedar Valley. I’ve been employed at Ferguson for almost eight years where I recently was the branch manager for the past 4 years, and recently have taken a position in sales.

Nathan Ragsdale

I’ve chosen to run for city council because it’s a way that I feel I can serve my community. I’m very interested in becoming involved in community decisions and events to help Reinbeck grow as a community. With my experience being a manager, I had to make many business decisions to help the branch be successful. I feel that my background has prepared me for being a councilman.

I know being in this position is a large responsibility as the community entrust for the council to make decisions in the best interest of the town. I’m ready for the challenge. Please come out to support the community and VOTE on Tuesday, November 7th.

Nathan Ragsdale

Nathan grew up in Reinbeck, and attended college at North Central University in Minneapolis, Minn. Since college he and his wife, Ana, moved back Reinbeck to start their life together. After moving up within Lincoln Savings Bank, Nathan currently holds a position as an Agricultural and Commercial Loan Officer at the Reinbeck branch. Nathan and his wife welcomed their first child, Oakley, in April of 2017. In his free time, Nathan enjoys making memories with his family, friends and volunteering on the Reinbeck Fire & Rescue as an EMT and Firefighter.

Nathan’s first experience with city government was his appointment to the Park/Recreation Board in April of 2015. Since that time the Park Board has worked with the City Council to add several walking trails, benches, exercise equipment, and a shelter to Elmwood Park. We as a Park Board have worked to open lines of communication with city residents who have questions or concerns about our process and decisions. I hope to continue open communication while on the Reinbeck City Council. The best ways for a town to succeed are to have open lines of communication, a willingness to listen, and the drive to be productive.

Marilyn Evans

Nathan is passionate about seeing Reinbeck grow and thrive by making our town appealing to young families and current residents alike, as well as supporting the needs of our local businesses. He looks forward to working with other city council members and our Mayor to have Reinbeck be, “The town that does good things better!”

Hi, I’m Marilyn Evans and I’m running for a seat on the library board. I’ve been member of the Reinbeck community for over 20 years, where I’ve been active in several area groups, and have used the library extensively during my years in Reinbeck. I understand and appreciate the value of having access to our library as well as their many services and materials. As a retired special education teacher, I care about reading, recognizing the importance of literacy not only for children but for all community residents. I care about the future of our library, making sure it’s attentive to the ongoing needs of the public.

I have called rural Reinbeck my home for the past thirty-eight years. During that time my husband, Warren, and I have farmed north of town. We have previously lived in Ames, Reinbeck, Dubuque, and Clinton. We are currently both semi-retired. I served on the Library Board in the 1990s.

I consider our Reinbeck Public Library to be a vital component to the Reinbeck community. I will strive to meet the changing needs of our patrons and will always be open to conversations concerning our Reinbeck Public Library.

I wish to ensure that the library has a strategic plan with implementation and evaluation components and I will seek to promote the library within the community and to all governing bodies. If elected I will support quality library service in Reinbeck.
