Coach John Olson advances to final 15 Most Valuable Coach contest

REINBECK – Gladbrook-Reinbeck football head coach John Olson was recently named to the U.S. Cellular Top 15 Most Valuable Coaches list, a campaign launched to highlight and recognize current high school head and assistant coaches who have made a profound impact on their schools and communities.

In his 12 years as head coach, Olson has a 93-30 record with the Rebels, including two-straight Class A state titles and three-straight state title game appearances, something that had never previously been done in Class A.

U.S. Cellular was in Reinbeck on Thursday to present Olson and the school with a $5,000 donation, and online voting for the No. 1 coach in the country is open now through Nov. 14th at TheMostValuableCoach.com.

U.S. Cellular will announce the “Most Valuable Coach” on Nov. 20, and the winning coach’s school will receive a $50,000 donation from U.S. Cellular. The winning coach also earns a trip to Orlando, Fla., where they will be given on-field recognition during the Under Armour High School All-American Game.
