Library News

Plan to join us at Westview on Friday, October 14 at 1:00 p.m. for WWII Women of the Heartland (a book talk) by Iowa author Gail Kittlesen. We have Gail’s book In Times Like These at the library. This book is fiction, set in Iowa during the time of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. With the 75th anniversary of that event coming up this December, this should be of interest to both men and women. The program is free and open to the public.

Kids enjoyed Llama Llama stories with Robyn Plocher on September 18. The next story time will be held on Tuesday, October 4th at 10:00. Aric Stickfort from the Reinbeck Fire Department will do a program about fire safety.

Also, during the month of October, we will have a 4-H exhibit in our showcase. Be sure to stop and see projects that local 4-H kids took to the county and state fairs.

New items this week include:

Nonfiction: In Such Good Company by Carol Burnett.

Fiction: Home by Harlan Coben, Robert B. Parker’s Debt to Pay by Reed Farrel Coleman, The undoing of Saint Silvanus by Beth Moore, The Kept Woman by Karin Slaughter.

Large print: A Quilt for Christmas by Sandra Dallas, Sight Unseen by Iris Johansen, Rasputin’s Shadow by Raymond Khoury, Runner by Patrick Lee, Loss of Innocence by Richard Patterson, West of Sunset by Stewart O’Nan, Haunted by Randy Wayne White and The Christmas Bouquet by Sherryl Woods.
