G-R JV Rebel Football-By: Coach Mike Bengen

It was a chilly October 8th Monday night at Grundy Center for our annual clash with the Spartans. Coach Thoren and his staff always do a great job of having their kids focused and ready to play. We always expect their best effort. This night would be no different. We stopped GC on their first possession and one play later, Eric Stoakes took a toss sweep 61 yards for our first score. Our defense was stingy all night and we stormed to a 25-0 lead at the half. Eric scored all four of our touchdowns on three runs and a reception from Cam Kickbush. Cam to Josh Cooley then took over the second half as they hooked up for two scores of their own to put us up 37-0 wiith 3 minutes to go in the third. GC added a score late for a 37-6 final moving us to 6-2 on the year. Cam threw for 117 yards and 3TD’s to lead the way. Josh had 67 yards receiving and his two scores. Bennett Petersen, Eric, Logan Flamme, and Austin Lott all aided our cause with receptions. Eric added 167 yards on the ground with Cam chipping in13 and Kainen Hendricks 23 yards for our offensive effort. Ty Eiffler led us with 7 stops followed by Bennett and Dalton Schwartz with 5 each. Brady Kuehl, Josh, Luke Holman, and Riley Gilbert 4, Cam 3, Cameron Clark, Bryce Ehlers, and Bryce Clark 2, Kainen, Shye Johnston, Austin, Logan, and Cameron Murphy all had 1 tackle apiece. Eric recovered a fumble, Cameron Clark blocked a punt, and Bennett added an interception to fill our stat sheet. Logan Phillips is also a contributor each nigh as he is our center and plays on special teams. Along with some of our other freshmen who are also on special teams, everyone on this team deserves credit. Some don’t fill the sats sheet as much as others but this team has really developed over the year. Between these kids and their coaches, this team has become a force to be reckoned with. Great effort creates great results and this team is an example of that. Nice job.
