Gladbrook-Reinbeck Boys Track

4/24/12 @ Aplington-Parkersburg Coed II The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Boys Track team traveled to Parkersburg on Tuesday to compete in the A-P Coed Relays II.  The weather was warm and the track was fast in some races during the evening.  Wyatt Swanson ran extremely well for the Rebels and placed 3rd in the 400 and 800M Runs.  Wyatt ran personal bests for the season in both events with a 52.76 in the 400M Dash and 2:03.88 in the 800M Run.  Wyatt also placed 5th in the long jump with a leap of 17′ 8.5“.  The 4×800 team of Zach Pierce, Austin Lott, Blake Kibe and Clay Clubine placed 4th with a time of 9:49.  Zach Pierce placed 5th in the shot put with a throw of 39′ 2”.  Tyler Bovy placed 4th in the 3200M run with a time of 11:34.  The 4×100 team of Phil Zimmerman, Joe Zimmerman, Andy Meyers, and Jeff Tscherter ran a season best time of 50.6 and placed 4th. 


Overall, the Rebels ran very well and showed signs of strong improvements in many areas.  With several young runners on this team, we are looking to improve and run our best times at every meet.  GR placed 5th at the meet with 34 points. 


4/26/12 @ Aplington-Parkersburg Coed 1 (Make-up Meet) Again, the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Boys Track team traveled to Parkersburg for a make-up meet.  Again, the weather cooperated and the Rebels were able to compete on a very nice evening.  The 4×800 team of Wyatt Swanson, Austin Lott, Clay Clubine, and Trevor Trunck set the tone early, placing 4th with a time of 9:07.  Tyler Bovy placed 3rd in the 3200M Run with a time of 11:21.  This was an improvement for Tyler of nearly 10 seconds on his best time of the season.  Wyatt Swanson ran very strong in the 400M Dash, but was beaten at the finish line by .1 of a second.  Wyatt’s time was 53.15.  Phil Zimmerman placed 6th in the 100M Dash with a time of 12.49.  The 4×200 team of Phil Zimmerman, Joe Zimmerman, Trevor Trunck and Ryan Volkens ran well and placed 5th with a time of 1:43.7.  Wyatt Swanson also ran strong in the 800M Run and earned the gold medal with a time of 2:04.48.  The 4×100 team of Jeff Tscherter, Phil Zimmerman, Joe Zimmerman, and Ryan Volkens placed 5th with a time of 50.92. 


Gladbrook-Reinbeck placed 5th overall with 46 points.  We are beginning to show some strong signs of development, despite the interesting weather conditions that this season has produced.  The Rebels will run at the NICL West Conference Meet on Monday, April 30th and at NU High on Thursday, May 3rd.  Both meets will provide stiff competition and guide us into the final stretch of the season.
