Middle school k-2 spring concert
The Spring Concert for the Middle School and Gladbrook Elementary will be held on Monday, May 18. The Gladbrook Elementary concert starts at 6:30 and the Middle School concert begins at 7:30. The Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders, conducted by
Mrs. Hagedorn, are singing all of their songs together. Their first song is “Find Your Smile” with Kindergarteners playing instruments. After that is “Start Your Day With A Song” with the 1st graders playing instruments. Next is “Body Boogie” with the 2nd graders playing instruments. The song, “It’s Summer,” will conclude the Elementary concert.
The 5th and 6th graders, also directed by Mrs. Hagedorn, are singing their songs together. The first song is “Surfin’ USA” which will include surfers. Then, “Baseball Fever”. Their last song is “Everything is Awesome” from the Lego Movie. The choreography is by Jocelyn Sieh, Belen Ellenberger, and Stephanie Kehoe.
The 7th and 8th graders, directed by Ms. Keber, will perform four songs together.
Their first song is “Reflections of a Lad at Sea” arr. Don Besig. Followed by “Shake the Papaya Down” arr. Dwyer Waller and “Agnus Dei” arr. Sonja Poorman. Concluding with “I’m Going to Sing!” arr. Ken Berg.
Mr. Reynolds conducts all three bands in the Middle School building: 5th grade band, 6th grade band, and 7th/8th grade band. The 5th grade band will be performing “Indigo Rock” by Bruce Pearson & Ryan Nowlin and “Windsong” by James Swearingen.
From the 6th grade, Bellenwill Ellenberger, Saari Kuehl, and Paige Creswell form a flute trio and they will be performing “Yankee Doodle Dandy”. “Chester” will be played by Maia McLean and Stephanie Kehoe who make up an alto saxophone duet. The entire 6th grade band will be performing “Time Traveler” by Larry Neeck, “Dance Celebration” by Robert W. Smith, and “Spirit of the Wolf” by Michael Oare.
The 7th/8th grade band will be performing “The Empire Strikes Back Medley” by John Williams arr. by Paul Cook, “By Dawn’s Early Light” by David Shaffer, and “Carpathia” by William Owens.
