GR FFA to state convention
Sunday, April 19, through Tuesday, April 22, Iowa State held this year’s State FFA Convention. The sessions, in Hilton Coliseum, contained anything from FFA members receiving recognition, awards, achievements, retiring officer addresses, sponsors recognition, to keynote speakers. We were able to listen to exceptional singers and instruments from the State FFA Band and Chorus. GR’s own Alex Thede enjoyed the event and said, “It was an experience that made you think outside of the box to give more than 100%.” Will Keim, an author and inspirational speaker, spoke to us in the first session. He strives to inspire people to become motivated. The other part of the conference was held in Scheman Hall, where the career fair and different leadership workshops were held. Madeline Mussig and Shelton Hatch were the chapter’s delegates who voted on this upcoming year’s next state officers. Meg Edler and Alex Shick received their state degrees in the last session of the convention, walking across the stage in front of the 225 FFA chapters that attended. It was a fun time for everyone who got to meet new people and learn leadership skills.
