Reinbeck’s American Legion Auxiliary 242 to send two Iowa girls to state

Cydney Rose

Thanks to a generous donation from a former past president of our local unit the Reinbeck American Legion Auxiliary will be able to send two girls to Iowa Girls state in June.

“In other years only one girl has been able to attend and this year with the donation we will be able to send two,” stated Brenda Boyce, unit treasurer.

Iowa Girls State is a state wide week of fun and facts in Ames, Iowa with girls from every legion auxiliary unit in Iowa.

The girls will live in the dorms on the Iowa State University campus in Ames learning about our government in the United States.

The girls will arrive on June 15 to begin their week long experience.

Girls from the junior class are selected based primarily on desire to attend, and in some cases their connection to the American Legion Auxiliary, through a parent, grandparent, or other member.

This year the girls selected are Jenna Hoffman, daughter of Richard Hoffman and Emily Hoffman and grand daughter of George and Zatha Brubaker. The second girl is Sydney J. Rose Pease, daughter of Cheryl Rose Pease and Peter J. Pease.
