Hawkeye Community College announces student art show winners

WATERLOO-Awards were given at Hawkeye Community College’s 15th annual Student Art Show recently. The art show featured art work, photography, and designs from students in the Fine Arts programs including Professional Photography, Graphic Communications, Digital Mass Media and Interior Design.

The following entries received awards:

The President’s Award (Purchase Award) to Jenna Reeves of Delaware for “Love in the Morning.”

The Library Award (Purchase Award) to Kendalle Alquwaie of Cedar Falls for “American Dream.”

The Academic Affairs Award to Jonny Dexter of Cedar Falls for “Self Portrait.”

The Faculty Award to Ashley Bullis of Waterloo for “For the Record.”

The Art Lover’s Award (Purchase Award) to Jodi Bergmann of Dike for “My Mona Lisa.”

The Art Lover’s Award (Purchase Award) to Cat McCombs of Cedar Falls for “Montagne.”

The Student Award to Michael Bowman of Cedar Falls for “You.”

The Math, Natural and Social Sciences Award to Joyce Wild of Reinbeck for “Merle Tri Bulldog.”

The Math, Natural and Social Sciences (Purchase Award) to Shayna Grundey of Cedar Falls for “Our Lady of Earth.”

The Math, Natural and Social Sciences Award to Andi Harp of Waterloo for “Untitled, (Fly).”

The CHEFA Award to Kyle Rausch of Cedar Falls for “Kyle Rausch.”

The Dean of Students Award, to Megan Rash of Waterloo for “The Kaleidoscope Caf.”

The Cultural Committee Award, to Haley Paige of Waterloo for “Midnight City.”

The Bookstore Award, to Randy Vogt of Waterloo for “Re-vision #1.”

At the event, a short talk was given by the Juror and Hawkeye Trustee, Joan Webster-Vore, and there was live music performed by Lucinda and Roger Lear. Laurel Klinkenberg, dean of Communications, Humanities, and Fine Arts presented the awards to the students. Special congratulations was given to the Digital Mass Media program (which was new last year), with five students in that area claiming some of the highest awards.
