Wolfcreek Whirlwinds 4-H Club Join Them!

Wolfcreek Whirlwinds paining the Gladbrook Theater window for National 4-H Week.

4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential through youth-adult partnerships and research-based experiences. And you will find that and more in the Wolfcreek Whirlwinds 4-H Club! Wolfcreek Whirlwinds 4-H Club is open to all youth in grades 4-12th. Youth who are interested in learning more about food & nutrition, sewing, photography, woodworking as well as cattle, swine and sheep are members of this club. Wolfcreek Whirlwinds meet on the second Sunday of the month at the Gladbrook City Center. The meetings are organized by club leaders Erin Murty, Steve Murty and Scott Murty, but are run by the 4-H members themselves. Parents are needed throughout the year to help. 4-H is a family event. The club plans many activities throughout the year. These activities focus on the 4 H’s of 4-H: Head, Heart, Hands and Health. Examples are serving at the concession stand for the library, tubing at Seven Oaks in Boone, painting the theater windows for National 4-H Week, painting pumpkins with residents at the nursing home, serving auction meals, and more. Club meetings each month include members giving presentations on various topics such as wrestling, making a party dip, making pumpkin pie, and more. They also schedule workshops such as welding and woodworking for the club members. The club works together to get ready for the Tama County Fair. You will find them helping each other in the barns, trash duty, and hosting the building. The Wolfcreek Whirlwinds currently have 27 members. They welcome you to check them out.
