Hospital Fundraising Event nets close to $80,000

More than 235 guests gathered for the thirteenth annual Gala & Auction to support the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation on Saturday evening. The fundraising total was revealed to guests at the event’s conclusion by Gala committee members, from left, Deb Wentzien, Kelly Dinsdale, Cindy Simms, Deb Sharp, Rhonda Samo, and Sheila Steinmeyer. The fundraiser supports the Foundation’s 2020 Annual Campaign, which is purchasing new equipment to enhance patient care in the hospital’s Specialty Clinic, Radiology, and Therapy departments. In addition, a special Fund a Need appeal raised funds to convert an Emergency Department treatment room to a Safe Room in order to improve safety when people with mental illness are in need of emergency care. Local individuals, businesses, and organizations provided more than $30,000 in auction prizes, including services, merchandise, desserts, and travel. “The Gala represents an outpouring of support from so many people within our county who value high quality local health care,” remarks Foundation event planner Erin Schildroth. “We are grateful for the widespread support, and excited to share the record fundraising results from the evening!”
