Iowa law allows an eligible elector to register to vote on Election Day at the polling place for the precinct in which the elector currently lives. After showing proper identification you may register and vote at the precinct the same day. However, this procedure may slow up the voting experience for voters choosing to wait until the Primary Election on June 7 to register and vote at the polling site.

To make the voting experience easier and less time consuming on June 7, Grundy County Auditor Rhonda R. Deters recommends that you pre-register to vote by the May 27, 2016, 5:00 PM deadline. By pre-registering, your name will appear in the electronic poll book at your polling site, and you will avoid the time consuming process required for same day voter registration.

You can register in person at the Grundy County Auditor’s Office at the Courthouse. Voter registration forms are also available on the Grundy County website www.grundycounty.org. Under the heading “Where do I .?” click on “Register to Vote”. A voter registration form will download. The completed form should be delivered or mailed to the Grundy County Auditor, 706 G Ave., Grundy Center, IA 50638-1496. Mailed applications must be postmarked on or before May 23 or received by May 27.
